Members ‘race’ to dinner

The theme was “Nite at the Races” with horse racing.
Businesses marking membership milestones include, Marion Township, 170 years; First Federal Bank, 130 years; Raabe Ford, 95 years; American Red Cross, 90 years; Better Business Bureau, 85 years; Harter and Schier Funeral Home, 80 years; Westrich Home Furnishings, 70 years; Roselawn Manor, 65 years; Bunge North America, 55 years; Aero Printing, Fischer Plumbing and Heating, Delphos Country Club and Schmitt-Massa Insurance, 50 years; Progressive Tool and Die, 45 years; B&K Trucking, Dr. Steve Carlson, DDS, and Maverick Media, 35 years; Thermo King of Delphos, 30 years; AFLAC Regional Office, Chief Supermarket and Dr. Nicholas Schmit, DDS, 25 years; Pizza Hut, Swartz Contracting and Toledo Molding and Die, 20 years; Watch TV and Fifth Third Bank, 15 years; Benchmark Precision Fabrication and Huggy Bear Campground, 10 years; and East Side Car Wash, Kernel Cooper’s Corn Maze and Tony Langhals Realty, five years.
Eric Fritz of ACE Hardware will serve as acting president until a president can be elected.
New chamber board members include Eric Schier, Kim Colasenti and Cindy Metzger.
Delphos City Council President Bob Ulm spoke, commenting on how the chamber and the city are working together.
“We are excited about the interest of the chamber in working in a partnership to promote Delphos and working toward future growth of the community,” Ulm said.
He noted the new and exciting things going on in Delphos including the new wastewater treatment plant, water treatment plant and that the reservoir now has approximately 100,000 gallons of water pumped in from the Little Auglaize River.
“People who say we (Delphos) can’t or won’t are wrong,” he concluded.
Mayor Jerry Neumeier commended the chamber on its recent publication of a guide to Delphos businesses and industry.
“This will help in our branding of Delphos,” Neumeier said. “This is something we can put in people’s hands and show them who we are.”
