John A. Wilson

John A. Wilson, 63, of Spencerville, died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 6, 1943, in Lima, to James A. and Margaret M. (Krebs) Wilson. His mother survives in Spencerville.
On Nov. 26, 1966, he married Barbara A. McKinley, who survives.
Other survivors include three children Billie Jo (Scott) Wood, Timothy J. (Misti) Wilson and Richard E. (Jennifer) Wilson of Spencerville; eight brothers Jim (Nancy) Wilson of Hockley, Texas, George Wilson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jerry (Marilyn) Wilson of Dennison, Dave (Susie) Wilson of Waynesfield, Joe (Judy) Wilson of Lima, Bill (Glenda) Wilson of Cumberland, In., Tom (Rita) Wilson of Elida and Chuck (Bonnie) Wilson of Dunkirk; four sisters Mary M. Kohli of Lima, Sally Denbow of Sunnyvale, Calif., Sandy Dearth of Madison, Wis., and Carol Heil of Spencerville; nine grandchildren Cierra and Amelia Wood, Cole, Calvin and Caden Wilson; Casey, Brady, Trace and Porter Wilson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Richard “Buddy” Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was an active member of the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church, serving in many ways including its church mission trips to Honduras, Jamaica and Nicaragua. He was a member of the Spencerville Invincible Fire Company since 1974 and a charter member of the Spencerville EMS. He was a finish carpenter with the Gehring and Burtchin Construction Company of Lima for 30 years and worked for more than 10 years with his son in the Tim Wilson Construction Company of Spencerville. He was a 1961 graduate of Spencerville High School and completed many courses with the Fire and EMS services.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Monticello Church, Rev. Andrew T. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after noon Wednesday at the church.
