Merlin G. Grothouse
Merlin G. Grothouse, 70, of Huber Heights, died Thursday at his home.
He is the son of Leo B. and Eleanor Grothouse. His mother survives in Delphos.
He married Pamela S. Cook, who survives in Huber Heights.
Other survivors include two sons, Mark (Tonja) Grothouse and Michael (Jeana) Grothouse, all of Dayton; two sisters, Ethel (Dick) Crede of Clearwater, Fla., and Lois Miller of Elida; three brothers, Paul (Carol) Grothouse of Lima, Dave (Carol) Grothouse of Waterville and Denny Grothouse of Delphos; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Brendan, Madison, Bryan, Heather, Sydney, Nevahn, Logan and Justinn.
He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Theresa Grothouse.
Mr. Grothouse was a graduate of St. John’s High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1958. From 1966-1975, he worked as a respiratory therapist at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. From 1975-1982, he worked at Lima Memorial Hospital and from 1982-1993 he worked at the Indianapolis Community Hospital-East.
Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for prayers at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. and then process to the church.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that contributions be made in memory of Merlin to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
