John W. Byrne

John W. Byrne, 91, of Ottoville, died at 5:40 p.m. Saturday at Celina Manor, Celina.

He was born July 10, 1915 in Ottoville, to Daniel and Emma (Brandehoff) Byrne.

On Aug. 20, 1938, he married Gertrude Irene Brinkman, who died March 17, 1982.

Survivors include sons Daniel (Joan) Byrne of Celina and Rodger (Diana) Byrne of Van Wert; daughters Virginia (James) Schroeder of Pittsburgh, PA. Rebecca (Barry) Cousins of Toledo and Cheryl (Greg Golen) Byrne of Novi, Mich.; sister Josephine Herman of Adrian, Mich.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by daughter Patricia Byrne; brothers Joseph, Orion and Hugo Byrne; sister Salome Grosenbacher; and a grandchild.

Mr. Byrne was retired as a welder with Fruehauf of Delphos and was also a retired farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Holy Name Society and the Ohio Farmers Union.

Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Jackson Township at the corner of State Routes 224 and 634, where a scripture service will be held at 6 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to Immaculate Conception Church or Ottoville High School Athletic Program.
